Educators for Democracy Network
A coalition of education unions fighting for democracy

Mission Statement
Educators for Democracy is a global coalition of education unions united to defend and advance democracy, human rights and social justice. Founded in response to Resolution B1 from the Education International World Congress in Argentina, we stand against the rise of authoritarian and far-right movements that endanger teachers, students and unions alike. Out unions have a long history of fighting oppression, and we remain steadfast in continuing that struggle regardless of any challenges ahead. Through collective action, advocacy and solidarity, we work to uphold democratic principles in education systems and societies worldwide. We seek to pressure governments, both our own and abroad, to strengthen democratic institutions and protect civil liberties, with urgent focus on crises such as Russia's unjust invasion of Ukraine, and the escalating attacks on democracy in Argentina, while harnessing the power of social media to amplify our message and mobilize educators and allies globally. Together, we are committed to creating inclusive, democratic societies where education is a force for freedom, dignity and collective strength.
